Restaurant Reviews

A  posh Thai restaurant in lively Soho Busaba Eathai gets at best 3 1/2 stars out of 5. There is a hip vibe in this place with warm browns and yellows in the decor and the large picnic table settings instead of individual tables provide an intimate atmosphere. their menu is long and exhaustive with interesting drinks made from sugarcane juice, coconut milk and guava juices. The food is a modern version of traditional thai recipes such as fried soft shell crab, Pad thai and various Thai curries. The service is warm but the food lacks soul and is quite pricey.

Tayyab’s - Bangla Town

No desi worth his namak should ever be in London and not eat at Tayyab’s. This unassuming restaurant tucked deep in the heart of WhiteChapel in Bangla town next to Paan Centers and stores selling dress materials and saris serves the most finger-lickingest Indian food you will ever eat. This restaurant is not richly decorated with details and furnishings that will transport you back to India. But the minute you sit down, the aroma just engulfs you. It is garlic paste and ginger and cumin powder flavoring meat that is being cooked on very high heat, maybe the grill, and you just get right down to the order.
The lamp chops are delicately spiced and the meat is buttery. Seekh kababs are cooked perfectly on the outside yet delicate and steamy on the inside; not the slightest bit of mushiness anywhere. The service is good but the best part is the price. There are not too many places to eat in London where you do not have to fork over a tiny fortune for a tasty meal that fills your stomach. You can come to Tayybas again and again and you dont have to schedule it in your monthly budget.
Five stars all around.
